Hydrotherapy can help to improve mobility, strength, balance, cardiovascular fitness and assists with chronic pain management.
What is Hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy is clinical exercise completed in an aquatic setting, usually delivered by an Exercise Physiologist or Physiotherapist. Hydrotherapy exercise is often prescribed to people with chronic pain or disability to assist in the management of their condition.
Who can hydrotherapy help?
Hydrotherapy is a unique type of exercise due to the properties of water including buoyancy, hydrostatic pressure, turbulence, resistance and temperature. Hydrotherapy helps to improve mobility, strength, balance, cardiovascular fitness and assists with chronic pain management. Hydrotherapy is beneficial to those experiencing:
- Musculoskeletal injuries
- Pre- and post-operative rehabilitation
- Neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease and Cerebral Palsy
- Chronic pain
- Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease
As with all exercise, there are some conditions that may not be suitable for Hydrotherapy. It is important to discuss hydrotherapy with your GP, an Accredited Exercise Physiologist or Physiotherapist to ensure it is safe for you to commence a hydrotherapy program.
What we offer:
Individual Hydrotherapy Sessions:
Individual sessions are best suited to those who require support and direct supervision. During an individual hydrotherapy session, you will complete an exercise program that has been specifically tailored to you, taking into consideration your goals and current functional ability. Your Exercise Physiologist will be able to progress and regress your exercise program as necessary.
Small Group Sessions:
Group sessions are best suited to those who require some supervision during exercise. During a group exercise session, you can expect to participate in a group exercise session with numbers limited to 5 people per group. The classes will be run by an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, and modifications to exercises will be made for individuals as required.
