Physiotherapy - Running Assessments
Running Assessments
Running is a high impact dynamic activity that places significant stress on different parts of the body. A specific assessment of your biomechanics while running can provide valuable information about the cause of symptoms, and provide explanations for pain. Our video analysis will enable us to provide an overview of your individual running technique. From this video your physiotherapist will then be able to perform specific isolated tests to further investigate potential areas of weakness, tightness or overload. We will then devise a specific treatment plan with a focus on mobility, flexibility, strength, technique and endurance, and advise on appropriate running programs. These assessment assessments are often utilised as part of a rehabilitation plan.

What I Can Expect From My Physiotherapy Sessions

Manual Therapy - Physiotherapy
Manual Therapy

In physiotherapy, manual therapy involves a physical approach to treatment to provide relief to your presenting symptoms.  Up and Active strongly believes in the use of a hands on approach to treatment and this can include soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation or manipulation, trigger point therapy, stretching and various other techniques.  Manual therapy can be uncomfortable but should never be painful. It is excellent at providing early relief to stiff and painful presentations such as back pain, headaches, limited joint movement and tension.

Dry Needling - Physiotherapy
Dry Needling

Dry Needling, uses the same thin needles as acupuncture but the application varies significantly. Dry needling targets tight or painful muscles compared to acupuncture which has origins in traditional chinese medicine application and a focus on qi. Dry needling is used as an alternative to massage therapy and can often be more comfortable than deep tissue massage. Not everyone is comfortable with needles, so do not feel obliged to consent to this treatment, discuss alternate options with your physio.

Taping - Physiotherapy
